We spent a few nights on Florida’s Cedar Key at Low Key Hideaway, a unique nine-site RV park with a tiki bar and incredible water views. They’ve made a remarkably quick recovery from last year’s two devastating hurricanes. Now we understand why so many of our friends are in love with this place!

My favorite photo from Cedar Key: sunset over the shallows with clouds and sky reflected in the glassy water’s surface.

Our RV site backed right up to the water, with a cute little deck with a swing right outside our kitchen window.

Looking back at our RV from the dock at Low Key Hideaway. You can see just how close to the water we were.

The setting sun reflected in the rear windows of our RV.

The social center of Low Key Hideaway is its funky tiki bar. The drinks were good (and strong) and the atmosphere was always relaxed and fun.

The courtyard outside the tiki bar (and the former motel, which they did not reopen after the last major hurricane) featured a large firepit and chairs from which we could watch the sunset or live entertainment.

As sunset approached, mullet began to leap from the water around the dock to catch insects. It was quite a sight. And yes, those are (fake) legs in the water, buried there by the Low Key Hideaway folks.

There were bistro tables and chairs at the end of the dock for watching the spectacular sunsets (and the flying mullet).
