Description

This Ford F-450 Super Duty has been our tow vehicle for both of the fifth-wheel trailers that we’ve owned. We purchased it new in January 2020. The 475 horsepower and 1,050 ft-lbs of torque produced by its 6.7-liter OHC V8 Powerstroke Turbodiesel engine, along with the 4.3 rear axle ratio, give it plenty of power to handle big rigs–even larger than our 2023 New Horizons Majestic fifth wheel–while four-wheel disc brakes and an integrated trailer brake controller enable it to bring heavy loads safely to a stop. We have used it to tow our trailers in the mountains, on twisty roads, and in windy and wet conditions, and it has always been reliable and stable.

The features in the Platinum trim line–such as the 10-speed automatic transmission with Tow/Haul mode, adaptive cruise control, adaptive steering, engine brake, lane-keeping alerts, and variable-speed rain-sensing windshield wipers–make for easier towing over long distances, while the 10-way power-adjustable heated and cooled front seats keep the driver and passenger comfortable. Parking and hitching up become simpler, too, with a 50′ turning radius, the Ultimate Trailer Tow 360º Camera System, and Pro Trailer Backup Assist: when backing up, just turn the knob in the direction you want the back of the trailer to go; release it and the trailer backs in a straight line.

This truck has had oil and filter changes when indicated by the Intelligent Oil Life Monitor system (approximately every 8,000-9,000 miles), using only 5W-40 API CJ-4 full-synthetic oil and Motorcraft filters, with Motorcraft fuel filter changes at every other oil change, and all other maintenance as scheduled.
