Italy’s Political Landscape and dinner at 4 Leoni

(This is part of our series of posts from our six-week Road Scholar Independent Living and Learning in Florence trip to Italy in Spring 2025. We have an index to all the posts from that trip here.)

This morning we had language class, then in the afternoon we attended a fascinating lecture about Italy’s political landscape, followed by a delicious dinner with Cheryl’s sister and brother-in-law.

Dr. Davide Lombardo, a professor of History, Metropolitan Studies, and Liberal Studies at NYU Florence and of Political Science at Kent State University Florence, shared with us his fascinating insights into Italy’s political landscape as part of our Road Scholar program.

Cheryl’s sister Suzy and her husband Doug, who live outside London, came to Florence to visit for a few days. The four of us had a fabulous dinner at a Santo Spirito-area restaurant, Trattoria 4 Leoni, that they had been to seven years ago.

One of our appetizers was this beautiful stuffed globe zucchini.

Another was fried zucchini flowers. If you’ve never had them, you’re missing out! (No photos of the rest of the dishes…we were too busy enjoying them!)
