(This is part of our series of posts from our six-week Road Scholar Independent Living and Learning in Florence trip to Italy in Spring 2025. We have an index to all the posts from that trip here.)
We spent Sunday, June 1 at home to catch up on sleep, laundry, and our language homework, and then we went out for dinner in the evening.
Of all the restaurants we enjoyed in Florence, Trattoria 4 Leoni (recommended by Cheryl’ sister Suzy) had the warmest and friendliest service–not to mention great food–so we returned there for dinner. We highly recommend it if you’re visiting Florence. It’s in the Santo Spirito area of the Oltrarno. Reservations are usually needed, but as a party of two we were able to get a table.

The walk back to our apartment from Santo Spirito after a big meal was always fun. Our street, Via Costa di San Giorgio, began at the archway under the Vasari Corridor next to Chiesa di Santa Felicita (I described that in a photo from a few days ago), and ascended two steep hills up to our apartment. This is where the street leveled out briefly between the two hills. Our apartment is further up the street than you can see, around the curve, and the incline continues the entire way.
