(This is part of our series of posts from our six-week Road Scholar Independent Living and Learning in Florence trip to Italy in Spring 2025. We have an index to all the posts from that trip here.)
Today (June 6) was the final day of language classes for three people from our Road Scholar group enrolled in the Classical Italian course (the others, in the Survival Italian course, had their last class the day before). We were all starting to pack up and prepare to head home, but we met together for dinner in the evening.
This was our Road Scholar group at dinner at FrancescoVini. The number of people in the group had dwindled–Maggie and Patricia had left the course early for different reasons, and Jim and Linda were sidelined after Linda broke her leg in a pedestrian accident on Thursday. (She ended up having surgery in Florence and returned to the U.S. a few days after the rest of us did.) This was also going to be the last time we saw Tom and Nancy, as they were leaving on Saturday to travel to Rome by train for their early Sunday flight.

Walking home from the restaurant on the Ponte alle Grazie, we caught a beautiful sunset that lit up the River Arno and the sky over the Ponte Vecchio in dramatic colors. Firenze, ti amiamo!
